Rayang, Thailand

Image
On the way into school today the kids were talking about a particular day we spent in Thailand. I'm blown away with all the details they remember. We had hopped on kayaks and paddled over to the island of Rayang. We had the entire place to ourselves and it was paradise. There were so many nooks and crannies filled with fun and beauty.  When I got home I just had to take peek at the videos from that day.  I haven't really taken the time to look through them until now.  I need to pull them all together.  Until I get on that, here's one clip.  A tiny little glimpse into that HUGE day of fun. I love that it's one shot starting with Fiona and ending with her.   Ry rocked it behind the camera. all. to. ourselves. (the entire day) view from the cafe We can't wait to make it back someday.

When There's Something Ugly In Your Neighbourhood...

It's been a great Valentine's Day. Ryan took the day off from work. The kids didn't have school due to a teacher strike. And this is how the day kicked off.... They're nuts. We know. They're ours and I still can't believe it. Proof of our love singing "Ghost Busters" has to be one of the most romantic ways to start any day. More fun stuff to report on but tonight I'm tired. Ryan and I are about to watch Valentine's Day the movie. It seems appropriate. xo Happy Valentines Day!!!!

Tricking The Tooth Fairy

Image
Back when Reed was loosing his teeth like a shark,  Fiona was feeling a little envious.  Of course when you're that age things like getting a visit from the Tooth Fairy is important stuff. I tried to comfort her with all the reasons why it's good to keep your baby teeth as long as possible,  her time would come...yadda yadda.  She wasn't having it. One night she came up with a plan.  From paper she cut out a tooth, tucked it along with some crackers under her pillow.  She was going to "trick" the Tooth Fairy. (The crackers were to distract the fairy from inspecting the tooth with much scrutiny) Although the Tooth Fairy is very smart, she really respects a clever child. This happened months ago.  She still talks about the night she "tricked the Tooth Fairy". I've been saving these to record.  So glad I did.

We've discovered one more thing these two have in common. Asthma (diagnosed after a trip to the ER)  Poor guy.   He's being so adult about it.   Although, this morning he mentioned that there's a lot of dust in the schoolyard  and suggested he should probably stay home to prevent an asthma attack. Well played little dude! (of course this mama didn't bite) Living room camping... with the best Dad ever!

Ryan has been out in the field a lot lately.  Not a one of us ever sleeps well when he's gone.  In an attempt to compensate we all sleep together. The night he gets home the kids are kicked out.   I sleep like a baby and amazingly they do too.  Fiona has been decorating our yard lately with colorful streamers. We were fortunate enough to have our car decorated too.  She begged me to leave them on for the ride to school.  This is what kids do to you.   I'm sure we looked crazy as. It was more than worth it to see her blue eyes twinkle with pride as streamers blew in the wind behind us.  My cucumbers and tomatoes are coming along!  We spend a lot of time drawing around here.  I really should be better with all the practice I get. Even so...  Reed thought My Curious George picture was great and gave me his well done ribbon.  Ryan introduced Ghost Busters to Reed.  Now we randomly shout out, "Who you gonna call?"  From all corners of the ho
