W ednesday Reed FINALLY had school.  His response to the news, " I never never go to school !" Ryan tried reasoning with him, explaining to him that if he wants a lot of trains he needs a job to get a job he needs to go to school Great attempt by Ry but Reed wasn't having it "I never never go to school!" Stand back Ry Guy Let the pro handle it!  "Reed, Do you want to go to the Jump Yard after school?"   Nailed It!               Reed and this little girl were smitten from the get go. At one point I found the two of them just laying in a tunnel talking. Happy Weekend!

Love Songs

Image
In the spirit of " Love Day " as Reed & Fiona call it, here's some of Ryan and my personal favorite love songs Steal My Heart Away This was going to be our wedding song.  Last minute Ryan couldn't make up his mind and Van Morrison didn't make the cut for some unknown reason.   Every time we dance to it Ryan (who can be a little forgetful) asks, "Why didn't we have this as our wedding song?" What A Difference A Day Made This was our wedding song.   Down Together  I know this is dorky, but we are going to make our own music video to this song someday. We have all the details planned out.   I love love love it ! "Yeah, well, what's good for you is good for me And what's bad for you is bad for me" Isn't that was a LOVE is all about   You And I The lyrics are  perfectly us.  This fall Ryan surprised me with tickets to an Ingrid Michaelson Show at the 9:30 Club in D.C.  What a romantic date.  Return to Me This is our son

Rule # 108: Question Authority The other night the kids and I were sitting at the table eating dinner when Ryan came home.  "Daddy's Home" and the party began.  Hugs, kisses, dances... the whole nine-yards for Daddy's arrival. (the kid's were excited too) As the welcome party slowed down Ryan instructed Reed to sit at the table to eat what was in his mouth.  Ry pulled up a chair next to him and began to sing, "Chew, chew, chew... Chew, chew, chew....." After a minute or so Ryan finally said, " now swallow it Buddy" With a puzzled look on his face Reed questioned Ryan's authority and opened his mouth wide revealing a big lump of blue clay. Rule # 108 1/2: Don't put clay in your mouth     Rule # 3:  Always Assume I love you (Daddy too) Fiona will frequently walk up to me and out of the blue say, "I love you too Mommy" Always assume I love you because no matter what you do or believe or want or dream...I w

Cabin Fever

Image
Seven years ago I thought I had evaded winter weather like this when I moved from Massachusetts to Maryland.    And I had, until this winter. Add caption Last Saturday it snowed 10 inches.  Sunday was warm and not a flake fell. Monday School was canceled. Ryan Laughed and asked what made me even think to check the status of the school. The reason is, Last year after just predictions of snow I had brought Reed to school only to find we were the only jokers there. Tuesday there was a 2 hour delay, which means no school for Reed as an a.m. preschooler. That night it snowed and inch or so.   Wednesday , no school again, despite the roadways being clear. Each day that passed I could see Reed's personality changing as he suffered from cabin fever. A little too rough with Fiona, a little too fresh towards me = a little too much time in Time-out.  Alas, Thursday Reed finally had school and his wonderful disposition returned. The weekend was u

It's A Dragon!

It's been too long since I've written. There are a ton of stories about the kids I want to record and share but I have no idea where to start. In the Scrap-booking world it is said: when starting (or re-starting for the 8th time) always start with the present. When there is extra time, pages from the past can be completed.  I'm going to apply the same rule of thumb to my little blog. That said, I will start with today... The Woodland Safari Reed : Let's go on a Safari!  I need my camera! Fiona : We need our Safari hats! A few minutes later they're back. Heads topped with...um.. Safari hats.. I guess.  Geared with a camera around her neck (It had to be around her neck for some reason. Same story with her drum but with the drum she insist she wear it while roller skating)** Fiona is telling everything from Reed to the kitchen chair to "SMILE" then of course she looks over the picture, gives it an approving nod and puts it in her pocket Reed leads the
