Image
This weekend the kids enjoyed their first sleepover. Fiona's best school buddy James invited them over to his house. {yes ALL of her dates will be chaperoned by Reed} Ryan and I had a fabulous unchaperoned date together being silly and having uninterrupted conversations. What a treat!! Earlier in the week James came over for a playdate after school... Making ice cream sundaes Rolling out the dough for pizza They each made their own pizza Our girls are no longer chicks but still enjoy Fiona's love Carrying Bullseye around like she's a handbag His new & first gun that's not a stick

MUD

Image
I've referred to my children as Mud Magnets many a time and  for good reason. Yep we let them do it, because life is too short not to play in the mud.   Even shorter is the time we desire to.

Rock Climbing

S aturday Ry and the kids headed to the school for the "Working Bee".  I don't know if schools in the States do this but it's common in our neck of the bush.  One morning a term parents gather and do yard work around the schoolyard.  The kids help out a little but mostly play with their friends. It's another opportunity to connect and be a part of the community.  When the work was finished everyone gathered for sausages and a beer.  (yes it's a very chill school) The principal tallied all the work they accomplished in just a few hours and calculated they saved the school $5,000. I think it's a pretty smart idea. N ext on our agenda was the Rock Climbing Gym. They are really improving.  Ryan has returned to climbing himself.   His experience is paying off for he's a rockin' coach. {I'm slightly intimidated by her in this photo} Reed kicked back on my lap as we watched Fiona ascend her final climb.  ...

7th & 7th

Image
Y esterday was our 7 year wedding anniversary! We celebrated a couple of weekends ago with an overnight date.  As we sat at a rooftop bar looking over the city we reflected on us.  We concluded we still have a ton of fun painting the town red together.  Although that's a reassuring feeling it was also realized we are even more happy in our normal day to day life as a family. taken before our lunch date Yesterday we headed back into the city for a lunch date to complete our anniversary victory lap. Once again we talked about the greatness of our relationship.   In the middle of all our blubbering I reminded Ry that we can't congratulate ourselves too much.    After all our relationship hasn't been difficult or hard work like it is for so many other couples. We're just extremely lucky. In response he said, "Trudy, the only proof I have of fate is you." (melt) On the 7th we celebrated our 7th,  so ...

Werribee Zoo- Part 1

Image
S unday I wanted to give Ry some much needed time to get work done without the little ones and I constantly interrupting him.  So we packed up and set off to the Werribee Open Range Zoo. The kids loved watching them pick fleas off themselves and eat them. MEEKRATS The kids were pretending to drive an old truck, dodging lions left and right.   It looks like a fake backdrop but it's all real. The signs throughout the zoo are hilarious! THE END Later this week I'll post about our safari bus tour
