Ornaments

Image
Today we made some ornaments.  One of my favorite ornaments on the tree is Ryan's horse.   I'm so grateful his mom passed it along for us to enjoy.   He acquired it when he was a boy living in Maryland. Reed has three First Christmas ornaments. Little Miss Fiona has zero First Christmas ornaments. No Worries. She's making up for it in 4th Christmas ornaments.  Homemade .

I can remember being a child and the years seemed to drag like Jacob Marley's chain.  Becoming an adult has lifted the weights of time.  Even eternity feels like it would come too quickly. I'm uncertain how I've become a mother to anyone beyond my baby dolls never mind to a 5 and 3.5 year-olds. Here's to them and all the wonderful Decembers they have given us. 2005 2006 2007 2008 2009 ******** Something funny Reed said tonight. I was looking for his chapstick and couldn't find it so I said, "We'll use this brand spankin new one"  He fussed and said, "No mommy. I don't want the spanking one"

War Is Bad. Give Peace A Chance.

Reed has been into the movie The Train .  It's an 1964 epic war movie starring Burt Lancaster.  Strange pick for a 5 year-old but it's brought up the topic of war.  Reed has decided war is bad and we couldn't agree more. When I was young I came across a cassette of music. (presumably stolen from one of my older sisters) It didn't have a label so I never knew who was singing but I loved the music.  Years and years passed and I continued to listen I especially loved the song Strawberry Fields.  When I made it to college I found out I had fallen for The Beatles .  The first group I loved not because of the cool Mtv video or the cute lead singer rather the music was simply fantastic. Yesterday was the 30 year anniversary of John Lennon's death.  Although hes gone his ideals live on.   Remembering John Lennon from Trudy Woodland on Vimeo .

Jingle Bells

It's my hope that my children will surpass me in every aspect of life.  I want them to be much more intelligent than me, more worldly too.   I just never thought it would happen so soon. Reed Singing Jingle Bells in French from Trudy Woodland on Vimeo . If you're having problems with the video click HERE Part of our reasoning for moving to Quebec was to give the lil' ones a foundation in a new language.   A gift like no other.   After moments like this I am so proud of this decision.

Snuggle Fest 2010

Image
Ry before he went to a party last night. November is Grow a Moustache for prostate cancer awareness month. It's December so for the party Ry had a sweet penciled mustache.      Snow fell all day long. It was soft and gentle.  First thing this morning we set out to play.   The remainder of the day was pretty much a snuggle fest. Life is good!

Peeping Santa and New Rules

Image
Today Reed wouldn't share his apple.  This is the easiest time of year to quickly resolve such matters.  "Reed, Santa is watching you. He sees you're not sharing."  Immediately Reed handed his apple to Fiona and stomped over to the window shouting,   " Stop. looking at me Santa !" Last night Reed was having a tough night.  He found himself in time-out and then soon enough Ryan had to put him to bed early.  After a few minutes I went into his room to talk about what had just happened.  As soon as I sat in his bed , Reed said, "The rules are changing around this house. Tell Daddy there is no more putting someone to bed"   I love that it's "someone" not necessarily him, but "someone", anyone. We're all victims of this injustice.  Who knows who he'll send to bed next.  Our trip to Quebec City was a success! (all the pictures in this post are from our trip) After weeks of us all being sick we needed a holiday.
