{Christmas Eve}

Image
Before settling down for a warm summer nap I snapped a couple of pictures of my three kids in their caps. 3 kids... I still can't believe how lucky we are. Or how much can change in a year... Last year on Christmas Eve Clayton and I had a doctor appointment. Five days later he joined us. Our Christmas this year was brilliant!  I just downloaded all our holiday pictures from my camera so I'll be catching up with some of them soon. xo

{Halloween}

Happy Halloween!!!! I'm sure I've written about Halloween in Australia before.  Generally it's not even close to the same here as it is in America.  I would never walk around the neighborhood and trick or treat. There are certain blocks that will have balloons outside their house to indicate they are participating and last year we participated in that.  Other years we had our own trick or treat in the house. {see  HERE  for some past Halloweens} Last weekend we were invited to a Halloween party... Ryan was a zombie. Reed Moe was a zombie slayer... Fiona was a pumpkin princess- "Pumpkintina"  Long ago my sister advised me to choose how I want them to dress for Halloween because soon enough they will have their own ideas and most likely I won't be able to sway them.  Boy was she right.  I was hoping for a Peanuts theme. (I always thought Reed would be a great Charlie Brown) Instead I got this motley crew...  Clayton wa...

{Looking Back}

As the 3 year anniversary our of adventure in Australia approaches I find myself thinking more about all we've done and how much the kids have grown since our departure from Canada.  Reed was five & Fiona four. The age where we let them loose to navigate the world on their own for portions of the day.  I often kid that we're raising Australians.   The reality is Fiona has spent more than half her life living outside the U.S. She doesn't remember ever living there.  A few of weeks ago, at the end of the day, I remembered it was the 4th of July and mentioned it to the kids. They asked me, "What's the Fourth of July?"  I told my American children, it's a lot like Australia Day but in America.- It was a sobering conversation. Today as I looked through some old pictures from our final days in Quebec I found a video I made of our last time fishing on the Becancour River in front of our house. (Boy do we miss that place) Here's that video I made b...

{Good Grief}

Image
The other morning I was running late to bring the kids to school. I couldn't find my keys anywhere. I text Ryan to see if he had any idea where they might be. A few minutes later I sent him this picture... Found them!   The spare set was in the car. Good Grief! ********************************* Here are some random pictures from a bush walk we took last July. I love looking back and seeing how much they've changed. Fiona's lost her two front teeth, Ryan's a little more handsome and Reed straight up looks older. Clay wins the prize for the greatest degree of change in a year.

{Selfies}

In honor of our 9 year wedding anniversary I'm taking a glance back to our 1 year anniversary slash honeymoon in Colorado & Seattle...  We were so ahead of our time with selfies. back when a two person tent was plenty selfie with the Space Needle If I could tell those two twenty-somethings what they have in store for them over the next 8 years,  I know they'd be ecstatic.  This life is too good. Happy Anniversary to my favorite travel mate. To the North star and back again.
