Irish Dancer

Fiona has been doing ballet since she was 3.  I'm not really much of a "Dance Mum", it's not my thing. But Miss Fiona is so passionate about it. She continued with ballet lessons until the end of last year.  It was then that she outgrew her  ballet shoes.  I took the opportunity to broach the topic of her trying a different type of dance.  She was keen to try Irish Dancing.   What a great choice!  It fits her spunky personality perfectly.   She's totally rocking it and loving it.   She makes me so proud.   She's always practicing and such an eager, well behaved learner. A few weeks ago they had an informal show for parents to watch.  {the BIG one is right before Christmas} photographer Reed took this photo.  He's awesome! After the show we took a few photo's outside. Above is a typical Fiona posed shot.   Eyes closed, goofy little grin. I imagine she...

L ast night was the last of  the 3 ballet recitals Fiona performed in.  Is it horrible that I was happy for it to be finished?  All of the rehearsals and late nights left me exhausted. Not Fiona.  She danced while waiting to go on stage, danced when she got off, danced her way to the car.  I have a feeling the past few weeks were just a warm up to many years of ballet recitals. I reviewed the professional pictures of her online. I wasn't sold. She had this really cheesy smile going.  So I took a few of my own. {she still had some cheese going on}  I love the poses she came up with. See if you notice anything unusual in the next 2 pictures.   Did you see the pill bug on her costume?   I'll post more pictures and give an explanation tomorrow. Here's a clip of her show.  The quality is horrible and I will certainly be purchasing the professional taping of the show. {Fiona is the one who is staying as close as ...

Bedroom Ballet

Fiona had her first ballet lesson in Australia yesterday. Once she found out she couldn't wear one of  her fancy tutus as she had in Quebec and Maryland she decided she wanted to go back to Canada.   {At the big show in Quebec} Every now and then she makes the request to go back to Canada or the United States. My heart breaks a little. If at 4 years old she misses our old homes.  How much is she going to miss our current when she's 7?  {We're planning to move back in 3 years}  Like I tell her, we're giving her options.  When she's an adult she can decide where she wants to live. Here's a short clip of her preparing for class on our bed. I could hear the kids scheming to dress up and trick me.  "Mom won't know who we are."   So in they came and I had no idea who these characters in my house were.  But they were so adorable I decided to keep them. Happy Dancing, Trudy
