Woodland Antics

A few weeks back Fiona's dance studio put on a mid-year performance.  It was a casual show to give parents a chance to see what the kids have been up to.  The big show with costumes and such happens at the end of the year. She was so nervous because she had missed the two lessons before the performance (we went to Sydney and then she was sick) so she wasn't sure exactly what to do.  There's some kind of Irish Dance lingo that I don't pretend to understand.  Fiona and her had a chat in said lingo and she was ready to go. She's so tiny compared to the other girls in her group.   Whenever I get a chance to pick her up (Ryan usually does the early morning dance gig) I over hear other mums talking about that "little one" and her talent.   I beam. Here's a video Ryan took with his phone... In lieu of flowers we gave her a card and snow globe (she loves snow globes) from all of us.

Our little Irish dancer has her big show coming up in a few weeks. Fiona is fortunate because her age allows her to dance with the little girls but her talent gives her a chance to perform with the big kids too.  Here are a couple of clips of her lessons that I took with my phone..... Not the best mobile picture but how cute is that costume?   I Love It! In other news... After being in America for a week and a half, Ryan is home safe and sound! It honestly felt like a year and a half. I've made a new house rule... We don't leave each other for that long ever again!       

Fiona has been doing ballet since she was 3.  I'm not really much of a "Dance Mum", it's not my thing. But Miss Fiona is so passionate about it. She continued with ballet lessons until the end of last year.  It was then that she outgrew her  ballet shoes.  I took the opportunity to broach the topic of her trying a different type of dance.  She was keen to try Irish Dancing.   What a great choice!  It fits her spunky personality perfectly.   She's totally rocking it and loving it.   She makes me so proud.   She's always practicing and such an eager, well behaved learner. Life is the little moments all pieced together... with an awesome tune in the background... Little video clips my phone has collected over the past week. I'll have to do this again.
