{Selfies}

Image
In honor of our 9 year wedding anniversary I'm taking a glance back to our 1 year anniversary slash honeymoon in Colorado & Seattle...  We were so ahead of our time with selfies. back when a two person tent was plenty selfie with the Space Needle If I could tell those two twenty-somethings what they have in store for them over the next 8 years,  I know they'd be ecstatic.  This life is too good. Happy Anniversary to my favorite travel mate. To the North star and back again.

Give You and I Will Give Me...

Image
This is a Happy Belated Anniversary post. {Our 8th wedding anniversary was on the 7th of this month.} An anniversary I'm certain we will never ever forget. xo {2004} I can't help but feel we're living a storybook kind of romance. One without end. He would do anything for me and I him. He's gentle with my heart and I his. He still opens my car door and in return I reach over and open his. We still kiss and hold hands in public. Just last week he made me a mixed CD and I listen to it every moment I'm in the car and dream of him. It's something a young couple would do, but we're still doing it, even after 8 years of marriage. My favorite part of it all is Reed & Fiona are witness to all of this.  This is what they know marriage and love as.  I hope they'll expect nothing less in their lives. {I have to admit I'm sometimes a little hesitant to write how great our love is on a public space. Does it seem like I'm brag...

I turned around and found he wrote this in the sand.... (I'm one lucky gal) Sent from my HTC

7th & 7th

Image
Y esterday was our 7 year wedding anniversary! We celebrated a couple of weekends ago with an overnight date.  As we sat at a rooftop bar looking over the city we reflected on us.  We concluded we still have a ton of fun painting the town red together.  Although that's a reassuring feeling it was also realized we are even more happy in our normal day to day life as a family. taken before our lunch date Yesterday we headed back into the city for a lunch date to complete our anniversary victory lap. Once again we talked about the greatness of our relationship.   In the middle of all our blubbering I reminded Ry that we can't congratulate ourselves too much.    After all our relationship hasn't been difficult or hard work like it is for so many other couples. We're just extremely lucky. In response he said, "Trudy, the only proof I have of fate is you." (melt) On the 7th we celebrated our 7th,  so ...

Finally Published!

Image
Remember this and  this ? well We have finally been published! You can check it all out on the  Ecology website .  or Here are the highlights... The photograph is of the Becancour River. The backdrop to Woodland antics for the year we lived in Quebec. {I miss our river}  I have to admit there's a bit of a thrill to see my name as the photographer. (if you look at the photo on the website you can see it too) The photograph obviously had to be cropped for the cover.  I'm a little bummed the rainbow from the original didn't survive the cut.         M ore importantly here's Ryan's article.   This is only the text.  If you're interested in seeing the complete article with graphs and all the bells & whistles go HERE . Incorporating temporally dynamic baselines in isotopic mixing models Ryan J. Woodland 1 , Marco A. Rodríguez, Pierre Magnan, Hélène Glémet, and Gilbert Cabana Centre de Recherche sur les Interactions Bassins ...

Cause For Celebration

Ecology , the leading international journal in its field, publishes articles that report and interpret the results of original scientific research in basic and applied ecology. I am incredibly proud to announce Ryan ,my Ryan, has written a manuscript that will be published in the January issue of  Ecology!  Ryan always impresses us when his hard work is published.  This one stands out because it's a high impact journal. I am honored to accompany him in the same issue.   A month ago I submitted a photograph for consideration as the cover of Ecology.  After reviewing the past covers I realized I was out of my league. After weeks elapsed I had given up all hope.  Fortunately I didn't have my hopes up too high, I knew it was a long shot. Today I was forwarded this email:   I am pleased to tell you the Becancour River image has been selected for the cover of January Ecology! Please send a caption (about 50 words, along with the photographer’s...

Morning Song

Image
It's a dark, rainy & chilly morning. I hopped directly from the shower back into bed with Ryan. I suggested we let the day pass by and just stay in bed cuddling. Without hesitation he agreed. I told him he was "easily manipulated" In the softest sweetest voice he said, "When you're doing the asking I am." It's these little conversations that make me so grateful for the love we share and make the rest of the world seem  obsolete. We have obviously faced the world this morning but not before singing stumbling through this Jewel song together.  Let the phone ring, let's go back to sleep Let the world spin outside out door, you're the only one that I wanna see Tell your boss you're sick, hurry, get back in I'm getting cold Get over here and warm my hands up, boy, it's you they love to hold And stop thinking about what your sister said Stop worrying about it, the cat's already been fed Come on darlin', let's go ba...
