Kids, When you're just starting your family and struggling between keeping your budget and making Easter fun & special remember my advice....  1. Don't wait until the last minute to make up the clues...or else they'll end up lame like mine were this year. 2.Spread few gifts out over several baskets.  It will draw out the fun with the same amount of pocket change. 3. Along the same lines...try to use stray ribbon and fabric to make the baskets look fancy and special. 4.Use the grass skirt from Surfer Girl party for the grass in the baskets. 5.Buy fun secondhand toys from a thrift store 6. If you're really lucky your sister will hand down some toys from her daughter and you can hold on to them until the big day.  7. Look for clearance items throughout the month.  Later take the kids to the toy store and convince them they really really want Moon Dough.  "Maybe the Easter Bunny will bring it to you?" (wink) 10. Skip the expensive photographer

Letter To The Easter Bunny

Image
Untitled from Trudy Woodland on Vimeo . A few minutes after writing her letter to the Easter Bunny Fiona said,   "I have an idea.  Let's make an Easter flag! (pause) For EVERY child to wave."   I just had to write it down because it's such a Fiona thing to say.  She's a romantic and I love that about her.  Anyway, I wrote it down and Fiona asked me what I wrote. I told her. She used the marker to write (with squiggles, while narrating) "For every adult and person." Man! And I thought I was going to be busy with a flag for every child!  Reed, because he's such a sweet little boy kept saying " Boy that Easter Bunny is a good guy " We had Easter lunch with representatives from France, Italy, Quebec and of course we were the loud Americans. It was the most unique Easter I've ever had. Fiona spoke the universal language (play) with a new friend. Reed sat around the adults table with us enjoying the frequent toasts & clinking o

Friday's Face....

This is one of our cats, C'atie. Fiona calls her "my baby C'atie" as she dresses her up several times a day. I love her because she puts up with so much from the kids and not once has she retaliated. She and her brother were feral when we saved them from under our porch.  I think they know this and appreciate it therefore put up with a lot more than the average cat would.   She truly is a princess (maybe a cat saint) in my book.  Happy Friday....sure hope it's Good.

I was three when I sang the following song: (presumably out of tune) Uncle Donald's got a big ole butt, oh yeah Uncle Donald's got a big ole butt, oh yeah My Uncle Donald looked at me and said "what?" My response, "Did I say Uncle Donald ?" I know this story well because he told it to me on many occasions. He thought I was funny and witty. Coming from a truly funny guy this always meant a lot to me. I sure do wish he could have met my babies, they are way more funny & witty than I ever will be. Me & Uncle Dee (may he rest in peace) Here I am 30 years later still singing out of tune. Spring is here, oh yeah Spring is here, oh yeah Did I say Spring? It's been snowing all week.  We played hide-n-seek today. There's a couple of us who need to refine our hiding skills. A for effort? Here they are finding me. When I "found" her she said, "Mommy my feet are sticking out a litt
