Dipping Into Their Souls
Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures.
~Henry Ward Beecher
Reed's side is chaotic and abstract. It makes perfect sense to him. He describes it to me as "our family eating squid". Without prompting he began to splatter paint in the style on Jackson Pollock. Similarly to this famous American artist Reed began using different tools such as a leaf and balloon. Interestingly Reed is a reclusive kind of guy too. He's creative in the way that he thinks outside the box. He doesn't care to conform or what anyone else thinks. A part of personality I envy.
Fiona is more of an objective artist. Each stroke purposeful and organized. She wasn't satisfied having blemishes on her side. After Reed made a mark she made it into a cake. Reed splattered paint on it and she asked him to do more so it would look like rain. She is so adaptable and understanding yet needs her world to make sense and be orderly. She is also very thoughtful. She made a train for Reed as a surprise. Reed was so delighted by her effort and couldn't say thank you enough.

As I watched the canvas (a box from our bed frame) come to life I quickly realized the nature of my two creative children was painted all over it.

Perfect example of Reed's reclusive self. He didn't want his picture taken. Fiona on the other hand poses. |

To send light into the darkness of men's hearts - such is the duty of the artist. ~Schumann
The light from each of my little artist lights up my heart daily.
