Exit Interview

Yesterday was Reeds last day as a 5 year old. He's moving on to a bigger and better age.  To  enshrine the precious age of 5 we did an exit interview.

Although I love how the internet allows us to share this with you; I am always disappointed with the disintegration of  the video quality.  On my computer everything looks fine.  Then I watch it online and I'm consistently disappointed.   That said, years from now I won't give two hoots about the quality. I'll just be happy I was able to persevere & share it.

Special Feature:Mom's Commentary

We've been counting the number of sleeps he had left for a week.  Today (his birthday) he keeps asking, "Is it still my birthday?"  As far as his age goes, he views 6 as a stepping stone to get to 9.  Why 9?  He wants some games that we said he has to be 9 to play.
Youth is certainly wasted on the young.

Blue makes sense.  I can't say much about this one.
I'll take the opportunity to point something out that I learned about him during this interview.
When he responded to the questions, most of the time he restated the question.
Me: What's your favorite color?  Reed: My favorite color is blue.
It gives me a little more insight to how his brain works.  He responds in such a manner to give himself a chance to process the question and come up with a response.  very interesting.

He's referring to the cabin we stayed at a couple of weeks ago while we were in Lakes Entrance.  We really did have such a wonderful time.

When someone, especially Reed, does that it makes me happy too.  He's such a goofy guy.  Love that about him.

He's right, they don't have Super Why here in Australia.  He's confused to think it was ever on ABC 4kids.
We never had television until we moved here.
We always watched it on Netflix.
I think we all miss Netflix a bit.

Really, who can  decide on only one flavor?

If I had to guess his favorite I would have said vanilla.
It seems to be the most healthy of all flavors.
Yes I have a young boy who values good nutrion.  He never wants to eat too much junk food.
He doesn't get that from me.

I know there's a cheap pasta product called Oodles of Noodles, but this is not what he's referring to.
He means lots of noodles.
He likes using the phrase because it's the name of a book he loves.

I may be a boss, but I don't think I'm the OLDEST boss he knows.

Apparently  he considers girls to be bosses given" Fiona is the bestest bossy girl in the world."
This may be true.
It's best he learns this at an early age.

He did get a couple of toy transformers this morning. He has been playing with them nonstop.
He gets to go shopping for the superhero toys tomorrow.
In addition to his transformers he was gifted some Legos, which both he and Fiona are stoked about.
A big thank you to both sets of grandparents and great grandparents. Your contribution made his birthday wishes come true.

He does enjoy his cars, but doesn't play with them as often as he once did.
These days he passes most of his free time playing with dinosaurs and army guys.
As for the Thomas trains, we brought his heavy wooden train set with us to Australia and he has touched them only once since we've arrived.  That was because I set up the track and I think he felt obligated to play for a couple of minutes.

Of course!
What 5year old doesn't like Christmas the best?
When he gets older and presumable lives in the U.S. again he'll probably pick Thanksgiving like me.
Family, friends, food and no gifts to worry about.

For the past 5 months he has said he wants to be a vet.
It makes sense.
He's very interested in anatomy and isn't a big fan of people.
I won't be surprised if this really becomes his career choice.

Okay, this is too funny.  We've only read Peter Rabbit a few times in his life.  I don't why he said that.
At this point I'd say his  favorite is, There's A Monster At The End Of This Book.

Reed and I have been bonding over his ipad games.
Before we started the interview we were playing an old western game together.
I really don't enjoy playing video games but if it makes my little man think I'm super cool, you can count me in.
I think Captain America is truly his current favorite game.

I love how he says, "With Daddy!"  Man oh man does that boy love his Daddy. {He eats just like him too}
Hands down his favorite is guacamole.  We call him the Guacamole Monster.

Today was a fantastic day with the birthday boy.  I'll report on it tomorrow.

'til then,
Trudy

These little video clips are awesome. It doesn't matter if I've seen them before or not, the jokes are still funny, the smiles are still contagious, and those faces always warm my heart. Happy birthday little buddy -
