Recyled Ornaments

The four of us are in love with this new ornament I made for our Christmas tree.

This is what I made it out of.

On a recent bush walk my vest was stained.
After several washes I finally gave up on it.
Well,
not completely.
I used the wool collar, stuffing and bits of the nylon to sew our new friend.

I also made this one from a beautiful dress of Fiona's that had been splattered with paint.

It's not perfect by any means but my monkeys must not mind, they keep asking me to make more.

Just thought I would share and maybe inspire you to create some recycled ornaments.
I find it's so exciting to fabricate something new out of things that otherwise would be tossed out.
The best part is the kids watching me construct with my own hands and the lesson that corresponds with that:
The best things are not bought in stores.

In other news, summer is officially here.
Our northern hemisphere summer this year was spent purging.
The summer prior ,in Maryland, was spent packing.
I feel deserving of warm weather with neither on the horizon.

Warm Wishes,
Trudy
