Fiona's Birthday Experience...
We've made a decision in the Woodland home.
Instead of birthday gifts we're going to do birthday experiences.
Boy did Fiona get one Australian experience. We all did.
We took Tuesday & Wednesday off and headed to the Great Ocean Road.
We reserved a campsite in Kennett River.
Between the city and checking in was a day of driving along the coast with little expectation.
"Which vacant beach along this beautiful rugged coastline should we get to know better?"
was the only lingering question.
The second day was more of the same.
Here's a recap of our past two days. Each picture will hopefully get a post of it's own.
There are so many stories and details I want to remember.
My Little Monkey's Birthday Experience ...
Fiona woke up early. She always does.
Like a firecracker too.
I always have to ask her to be quiet.
Not during her Birthday Experience!
We walked across the road to the beach.
We played and jumped
and could be as loud as we wanted;
We were no match for the sound of the crashing waves.
The first beach of the trip we embraced...
We stopped along a river for some lunch.
The kids were so good the entire trip.
{we couldn't believe it}
The campground was loaded with beautiful birds.
Fearless too.
This picture is framed by Reed's leg and foot as he ran past.
Ry and the kids did some fishing.
Everyone cast and reeled in at least one fish.

Western Australian Salmon |
This was one of my favorite parts of the trip.
These Rosellas were fantastic.
They were so friendly and strikingly gorgeous.
Oh and they'd perch on us!!
How cool is that?
The ending of our day was a night hike to find some glowworms.
It was an incredible sight.
I wish I had pictures of them.
I do have this one that was taken as we headed up to the glowworms.
Somewhere between almost hitting the first and second Kangaroo.
We were able to take Fiona's annual dress photos.
We slept under Koalas.
The campground was teaming with them.
* I'm a girl who likes her good deals. When I get one I like to brag a bit. So right now would be a good chance to brag... This 2 day trip cost us under two hundred dollars. I calculated it all from gas to cookies we bought the kids as a treat to a fishing license. I think that's a bargain.
My favorite picture ever was taken on Wreck Beach...
When we saw this beach we knew we needed to be there.
AND
It was every bit a beautiful as we thought it would be.

We checked out the 12 Apostles.
On our ride home we saw an echinda on the side of the road.
We turned around to get to know this guy better.
He was adorable up close.
Now That was a Birthday Experience!
