Elephant Trek {Day 5}
The Elephant Trek was a very special way to celebrate Reed's birthday.
We were so fortunate to have a private experience, just the four of us.
Walking to the river to bathe the elephants...
Because it was his birthday Reed was able to ride the elephant out of the river and back to camp.
I tell ya, he's one lucky 8 year-old
Little Fiona was so sad and envious on the walk back.
I'm so glad the mahout became aware and gave her a chance to hop on as well.
After rigging up the Noon and Jintara (the elephants) we were off on our jungle trek.
It was nothing short of amazing!
After the long trek the elephants were rewarded with some banana treats.
This may have been my favourite part.
Neither words, nor pictures could ever express how fantastic of an experience this was for the four of us.
At the end we let them each pick out a small elephant figure as a memento.
Ryan took some video footage of our trek and Fiona did a complete news show from on top of an elephants back.
I'll post these soon.
In the meantime, here's Reed blowing out his birthday candle in Thailand.
He had no idea it was coming....

A quick story about Jintara and Fiona's hat...
Along the way Fiona dropped her hat on the ground.
Without prompting Jintara just grabbed it up with her trunk and gave it back to Fiona.
So sweet and so smart.
Just a couple of reasons why elephants are my favourite!!!
After the long trek the elephants were rewarded with some banana treats.

The background song is Zousan (little elephant)
Reed's my little elephant,
smart and sweet.
