{Reed's Birthday Experience- Day One}

Reed is our history buff so it seemed appropriate to spend a couple of days at Sovereign Hill for his birthday experience.

 We camped in Enfield State Park.  It was a beautiful location and we had it all to ourselves.

 After setting up camp we took a little hike.
The kids spooked this owl.  Being an emerging lover of birds I looked up some information about it as soon as we got home.  It's called a Powerful Owl.  It feeds on possum, koalas, cockatoos and the list goes on- point being it feeds on some good sized animals!

Then we spent time at Sovereign Hill...

panning for gold

 We took a ride on the stage coach but apparently I didn't take any pictures- I definitely slacked with the camera.

 Here we are playing with the camera...
 I finally set up the app that allows my phone to act like a remote for my camera.
Can you see Ryan holding my phone?
In the end it was a bit of a bust- but I love them just the same.

 We ended the day with a show...

 the show ended with a bang!

 Back at camp...

 In lieu of sparklers...

 The kids and Ryan cooked hot dogs over the fire while I made us some sushi...
 Some silly family pictures at the campsite...

After roasting marshmallows and telling stories Reed & Fiona went to bed in their very own tent.
Ryan and I stayed up late talking.  I can't say how much I enjoy planning, learning, dreaming and reminiscing with Ryan.  It's one of my favorite things about going on holiday. We have hours to just chat.  Of course one of our dearest topics is Reed.  It's been so interesting to watch him grow. What a beautiful soul in that guy!
